A Truly Historic Day at the Old Bridge Inn

What a truly historic moment it was as the Rushcart completed its journey at the Old Bridge Inn.
For the first time in around 50 years, this incredible Yorkshire tradition returned to our door, and what a fitting place for its journey to end: at one of Yorkshire’s oldest inns, steeped in centuries of history and tradition.
To see the Rushcart arrive at our 14th-century inn, surrounded by dancers, music, villagers, visitors and so many people who had come to witness this very special occasion, was something we will never forget.

There was a real sense that history was being made, bringing together two much-loved pieces of Yorkshire heritage in one place.
We feel incredibly proud that the Old Bridge Inn could play its small part in this wonderful tradition and provide the final stop on such a memorable journey.
Thank you to everyone who brought the Rushcart back to Ripponden, everyone who danced, played, walked, watched and celebrated, and everyone who joined us at the Old Bridge Inn.
A truly special day, and one that we will be talking about for many years to come.
History on our doorstep. Yorkshire tradition at its very best.
